A vibration monitor 10 is configured to be worn by an operator during use of a power tool. The vibration monitor comprises a vibration sensor to sense vibration sustained by the operator when the vibration monitor is worn by the operator. The vibration monitor further comprises a processor configured to receive sensed vibration data from the vibration sensor and to transform received vibration data whereby the transformed data is more representative than the received vibration data of vibration at a location on a power tool or a workpiece with which the operator is in contact during use of the power tool. The transformation may be configured to amplify the received vibration data to address attenuation of the vibrations by the body of the operator. The attenuation may be determined by taking simultaneous frequency spectra measurements from the power tool and the vibration sensor and determining the transfer function, which may differ by power tool. The amplification may apply to a predetermined range of frequencies. Frequency-weighted attenuation may be applied to the received vibration data. |
