A communication system includes a plurality of slaves each configured to acquire meter reading data that represents a consumption amount, by a customer facility, of a supply medium supplied from a supplier, and a master configured to acquire the meter reading data from each of the plurality of slaves by wired communication. Also, the communication system includes a portable terminal device (maintenance terminal) configured to transmit or receive data with at least a first communication device among a plurality of communication devices (the plurality of slaves and the master). In a case where the portable terminal device and the first communication device transmit or receive data, a second communication device that is different from the first communication device among the plurality of communication devices is configured to relay the data that is transmitted or received between the portable terminal device and the first communication device, by communicating with the first communication device using a wired communication network established between the plurality of communication devices, and by communicating with the portable terminal device wirelessly. Accordingly, the second communication device relays the data between the portable terminal device and the first communication device. |
