[Class 142 (iv)] Between the pile fabric face 1 and the sponge rubber backing 4 there is a layer 2 of cementitious binding material, such as rubber cement or a compound of latex, and a layer 3 of woven material, such as duck, burlap or canvas. The layers 2, 3 and backing are secured together by vulcanizable rubber cement. The edges of the pile fabric are turned over and secured to the backing as shown. Known fasteners 6 for securing the rug in position and against slipping may be forced through the layer 3 before this is associated with the pile fabric. The layer 2 serves to lock the pile in the ground of the fabric, which may be devoid of extra backing warps &c.</p> |
