W., Drysdale House. Newcastle Road, Stone, Staffordshire. Feb. 4, 1932, No. 3295. [Class 111.] Fixed diffusers for blowing air or other gas into sewage or other liquid are formed with a chamber extending under a diffusion surface constituted bv a number of bricks or tiles cemented or otherwise fixed in ledges spanning across and surrounding the diffuser frame. As shown in Fig. 5, the tiles B are cemented in a frame G, divided into sections by T-shaped cross-bars E and having bevelled outer edges. Air is supplied by a pipe A. Fig. 8 shows a modification in which the frame J is bolted to an underframe L. A flat plate may be used instead of the frame L. Fig. 18 shows a construction in which each tile is cemented to a separate frame S, the frames S being bolted with rubber jointing X to a frame V which is cemented into the bottom of the tank. The air supply pipe A may have a joint which can be disconnected so that the tile frame may be lifted out of position by means of the pipe.</p> |
