A method includes: performing a scanning measurement of a female thread (S1) along first and second axes (T1, T2) extending along a center axis (C) of the thread (S1) and opposed to each other across the center axis (C); determining characteristic values of the thread (S1) from contour data of the thread (S1) obtained through the measurement; obtaining the contour data including first contour data associated with the first axis and second contour data associated with the second axis by performing the measurement; detecting a thread displacement (dXl, dX2) along the center axis (C) between a crest associated with the first axis (T1) and a crest associated with the second axis (T2) at each of first position (P1) and second position (P2) on the center axis (C); calculating inclination (¸) and deviation (dY) of the first and second axes (T1, T2) from the thread displacements (dXl, dX2) detected at the first and second positions (P1, P2); and adjusting an attitude of the thread (S1) for the measurement to eliminate the inclination (¸) and deviation (dY). |
