1. A wind energy conversion device, comprising:
an airborne rotary wing, adapted to harvest wind energy; the rotary wing comprising at least two similar airfoil blades; a lighter than air balloon, coupled to or integral with the rotary wing in such a way as not to interfere with the rotation of the rotary wing; an electrical generator on the ground, comprising a rotor and a stator; a rotational element on the ground, rotationally coupled to the rotor of the generator; a belt, coupled to the rotary wing and engaging the rotational element on the ground; the belt adapted to transfer mechanical energy, harvested by the airborne rotary wing, to the rotational element; a spool on the ground, other than the rotational element, the spool adapted to allow at least a portion of the belt to wrap around it. |
