A gaming server provides activities and/or services to a player through a gaming device. To verify whether the gaming device is communicating with the gaming server, a verification server may send an indicator to the gaming device, via the gaming server, and also send the indicator to a verification device. Alternatively, the verification server may send an indicator, via the gaming server, to the gaming device, for example, which indicator may then be sent back to the verification server from a verification device.

1. A method comprising:
receiving, by at least one processor of a verification server, from a user via a verification device a request to verify that a mobile device in use by the user is in communication with a gaming server, wherein the verification device is in communication with the verification server via a first network and the verification server is in communication with the gaming server via a second network, wherein the verification device is a separate entity from at least the verification server, the mobile device, and the gaming server, wherein the verification server is a separate entity from at least the verification device, the mobile device, and the gaming server, wherein the gaming server, together with the mobile device, is operable to provide activities to the user via the mobile device, and wherein the gaming server stores within a database profile information associated with the user wherein the profile information comprises activities engaged in by the user and an identifier of the mobile device; receiving, by the at least one processor of the verification server, from the verification device the identifier of the mobile device, wherein the mobile device is in communication with the gaming server via a third network, and wherein the mobile device is a separate entity from at least the verification server, the verification device, and the gaming server; response to the request, using, by the at least one processor of the verification server, the identifier of the mobile device as an index to the database and obtaining from the database information on one or more activities engaged in by the user; and providing, by the at least one processor of the verification server, the information obtained from the database to the user via the verification device, wherein providing the information to the user is indicative that the mobile device is in communication with the gaming server.
