1. A method for determining a scanning region that is relevant for conducting a magnetic resonance examination, comprising:
operating a magnetic resonance data acquisition scanner to execute a total imaging sequence for an object position on an object accommodation device in said data acquisition scanner, to acquire overview data of the object; providing the overview data to a processor and, in said processor, automatically evaluating the overview data to identify position information that identifies a region of said object accommodation device that is occupied by said object and a region of said object accommodation device that is not occupied by said object; and in said processor, using said position information to determine a scanning region that is relevant to conducting a magnetic resonance examination of the object on the object accommodation device with said data acquisition scanner, said scanning region including said region occupied by said object and excluding said region not occupied by said object, and providing an electronic that designates said scanning region in a signal format usable by said data acquisition scanner to conduct said magnetic resonance examination.
