This elevator apparatus has a tension variation detection device (11) provided with: a plurality of interconnection members (17) that are respectively connected to corresponding suspension body end sections (6a, 6b); a detection wire (18) having a first and a second wire end sections (18a, 18b); a displacement sensor (19) that detects displacement of the detection wire (18) at the second wire end section (18b); a plurality of movable guides (21) that are disposed on the respective interconnection members (17) so as to vertically change the path of the detection wire (18) in response to up-and-down motion of the respective interconnection members (17); and a plurality of fixed guides (22) that are provided on a guide support part (25), and that restrict vertical displacement of the detection wire (18). A suspension body diagnosis device (12) determines whether or not there is an aberrant variation in the tension of a suspension body (6) on the bases of information supplied from a load detection device (16) and information supplied from the displacement sensor (19). |
