Provided are, inter alia: a positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell in which gelling of a positive electrode mixture paste is inhibited and exceptional weather resistance is obtained; and a method for manufacturing the positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell. The present invention pertains, inter alia, to a method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell, characterized in comprising washing a powder comprising a lithium-nickel composite oxide represented by the general formula LizNi1-x-yCoxMyO2 (where 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.35, 0 ≤ y ≤ 0.10, 0.95 ≤ z ≤ 1.10, and M is at least one element selected from Mn, V, Mg, Mo, Nb, Ti, and Al) in a lithium carbonate aqueous solution, and drying the washed powder. |
