The present application provides a message prompting and processing method, apparatus, and client. The method comprises: acquiring a message source identifier of a message source set for important message prompting; when a new message is received, inquiring whether there is a message source identifier matching an identifier of the new message; and if the inquiry result is yes, displaying prompt information about the new message in a specified message prompting area in a second message prompting mode different from a first message prompting mode. By using the embodiments in the present application, a user can be reminded to receive a new important message, such that the user can effectively and conveniently distinguish the importance and sources of messages from a plurality of new messages, and the user experience can be improved. |
