<p>398,705. Change-speed transmission mechanism. HERBERT, SIR A., LLOYD, A. H., CLARK, C. W., and HARRISON, H. T., c/o Herbert, Ltd., Canal Road, Edgwick, Coventry. Jan. 16, 1933, No. 1388. [Class 80 (ii).] Transmission mechanism suitable for vehicles and for machine tools comprises the combination with a main friction clutch 12 and changespeed gearing 2 with an isolating one-way clutch 3 at the remote end thereof, of a device 4 for preselecting a speed change and a control 11 arranged so that actuation thereof will first release the main clutch 12 and then effect the selected speed change. The change gearing indicated at 2 may have sliding gears or clutches preferably with synchro-mesh features. The selector device 4 in the arrangement shown is as described with reference to Figs. 6, 7, 8 of Specification 398,713. A preselector control 5 on a steering column 6 is set which acts through a flexible member 8. A clutch pedal 11 is depressed to effect the change.</p> |
