The present invention addresses the problem of providing a highly reliable planar light emitting device which is highly productive using easily electrically connectable and inexpensive FPCs, and has a small unevenness in the brightness of the light emitting region thereof. A planar light emitting device is provided with a planar light emitting tile having a light emitting surface and a back surface as both principal surfaces and including a planar light emitting element, and a plurality of flexible printed circuit boards (FPCs) disposed on the back surface. In this case, the planar light emitting tile is defined as having a non-pad region in which an anode pad and a cathode pad are not disposed. In an overlap region in which part of a circuit board and part of another circuit board overlap each other, an electric connection portion in which equipotential regions of the circuit board and the other circuit board are directly electrically connected to each other is formed. The non-pad region becomes a connection part disposition region that overlaps the electric connection portion. |
