A heater device is provided with a heater unit (10) that emits radiant heat by heat from a heat generation unit (13) that generates heat by the passage of electric current therethrough. The heater device is provided with a contact detection unit (20) that has a contact detection region (ST) provided so as to overlap the heater unit in order to detect contact of an object, and detects contact of the object with the contact detection region. The heater device is provided with a determination unit (42) that, when the contact of the object with the contact detection region is detected by the contact detection unit, determines whether the contact of the object with the contact detection region is contact for a predetermined switching operation. The heater device is provided with a control unit (43). When the determination unit determines that the contact of the object with the contact detection region is not the contact for the predetermined switching operation, the control unit stops the passage of the electric current through the heat generation unit. When the determination unit determines that the contact of the object with the contact detection region is the contact for the switching operation, the control unit switches between the start and the stop of the passage of electric current through the heat generation unit. |
