The press (1) has a press frame (12), and a drive designed as a linear-electric motor (20) and driving a plunger, where the motor is integrated in a press table (10). The electric motor has multiple magnetic positive or negative poles that are arranged and shifted to each other. The poles are formed by coils extending around an axis. The coils are axially arranged and shifted to each other with respect to the axis. A drive shaft of the electric motor extends in a direction of the axis and is linearly adjustable in the direction of the axis by the coils of the poles.
