An array substrate, manufacturing method thereof and display panel. The array substrate comprises a base substrate (1) and multiple pixel units (P) disposed on the base substrate (1) and arranged in an array. A region corresponding to one of the pixel units (P) on the base substrate (1) is provided with a first electrode recess (2) and a second electrode recess (3), and the first electrode recess (2) and second electrode recess (3) respectively extend from an upper surface (S1) of the base substrate (1) toward a lower surface (S2) of the base substrate (1). Said pixel unit (P) comprises a pixel electrode (21) and a common electrode (31), the pixel electrode (21) is disposed in the first electrode recess (2), and the common electrode (31) is disposed in the second electrode recess (3). The array substrate, manufacturing method thereof and display panel can address the problem of an decrease in backlight transmittance.
