[Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XI] In electric discharge devices, incandescent lamps &c., of the type comprising an outer jacket 2, Fig. 1, and an inner envelope 1, and particularly devices in which the outer jacket is sealed, a rod or wire 13 projects approximately axially from the end of the inner envelope to support same by engagement with a socketed member 14 attached to or forming part of the outer jacket. As shown the member 14, which may be of metal or a ceramic material is secured to the jacket by glass or enamel 17, Fig. 2, of low melting point so that the position of the member 14 can be adjusted after the sealing of the jacket. The wire or rod 13 may be coiled into a helix so as to provide greater flexibility. In the construction shown the rod 13 is made continuous with the lead 11 of the electrode 12 but may be welded thereto.
