Methods and apparatuses are provided for wireless communication. First offset information and second offset information are identified. A size of uplink data for a user equipment (UE) is identified. The uplink data is transmitted with at least one of acknowledgement/non-acknowledgment (ACK/NACK) information and channel quality indicator (CQI) information on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). A number of symbols for the ACK/NACK information is determined based on the first offset information and the size of uplink data. A number of symbols for the CQI information is determined based on the second offset information and the size of uplink data. |
