401,983. Winding or wrapping yarn &c. on the dollies of carbon electrodes. HASSE, W., 12, Friesickestrasse, Weissensee, Berlin. May 15, 1933, No. 14066. Convention date, Nov. 8, 1932. Addition to 399,324. [Class 120 (ii).] In the semi-automatic machine described in the parent Specification wherein yarn is wound around the dollies of carbon electrodes for galvanic batteries previously wrapped with fabric, a spider 2 or an endless transporting chain or the like is mounted in front of the chuck 1 which supports the dollies during winding and serves to feed the dollies thereto and to convey them therefrom after being wound. The spider is intermittently rotated by a ratchet and pawl device operated by a treadle and successively transports the dollies, which are placed therein by hand, from the filling position A, Fig. 3, to the winding position B where they are gripped by a lever 8 on the chuck 1 operated by a treadle 10 and are wound, thence to the position C where the thread is cut, to the position D where the cut ends of the thread are bedded in the winding by a brush 11 reciprocated by a cam-operated lever 13, and finally to the position E where they drop from the spider. The several positions of the spider are determined by a spring-pin which engages recesses 17 in the end of the spider and a spring 14 is provided to hold the electrodes in position in the spider during the operations of cutting and bedding the ends of the thread. |
