402,110. Frictional igniters. DUNHILL, Ltd., A., 137, High Street, Notting Hill Gate, and BENEY, E. R., 3, Spenser Street, both in London. April 25, 1932, No. 11863. [Class 75 (iii).] The friction-wheel 9 is operated by a spring 19 set by means of a catch 21 adapted to be released by a falling weight 23 on inverting or otherwise moving the igniter. In one form, the wheel 9, Fig. 1, is attached to a wick cap 10 connected by a link 14 with a slidable rod 15 in a case 4, 5 in the form of a hunting horn. The spring 19 is compressed by depressing the rod by means of a push button 17 to engage a spring catch 21 under a bush 16a, a sliding weight 23 being provided on the rod for releasing the catch on inverting the igniter. The detachable fuel container 6 is of horseshoe shape. In a second form in which the friction device and wick are arranged at the top of the igniter, the weight 23, Fig. 3, rests on a light spring 24. When the lighter is lifted and given a slight upward shake, the weight 23 strikes a stop 25 and then falls, overcoming the spring 24 and releasing the catch. |
