In the present invention, an optical component is provided with the following: a high relative refractive index difference optical fiber; a single mode optical fiber for which the mode field diameter in a wavelength of 1550nm is larger than that of the high relative refractive index difference optical fiber; and an optical element that is connected to an end surface of the high relative refractive index difference optical fiber on the side thereof which is not melt-fusion connected to the single-mode optical fiber. The optical component is characterized in that the total sum of 1550nm wavelength joint-loss between the high relative refractive index difference optical fiber and the single mode optical fiber and 1550nm wavelength joint-loss between the high relative refractive index difference optical fiber and the optical element is smaller than 1550nm wavelength joint-loss if the single-mode optical fiber and the optical element are directly connected. |
