PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire excellent in durability and lightweight property without degrading rigidity.SOLUTION: The tire includes: a carcass 4 comprising at least one sheet straddling over a pair of right and left bead cores; and interlocked belt layers 5a, 5b having at least two layers using steel cords. The steel cord has a single twisted structure or a core-single layer sheath structure comprising a wire having a wire diameter of 0.20 mm to 0.60 mm. The number of implantation of the steel cords are 35 lines/50 mm or more, and a distance between adjoining steel cords in the belt layer is 1.0 mm or less. When all the filaments constituting the steel cords are assumed to have the same diameter, and the diameter is defined as a (mm), the distance between adjoining steel cords in the belt layer is increased by a/4 (mm) or more as an expectation value than the distance between the steel cords represented by using circumscribed circles of the steel cords. The tire also includes a barrier layer comprising a gas barrier resin. |
