发明名称 Improvements in or relating to the production of films and coatings of cellulosic material
摘要 Apparatus for coating sheet material comprises a hopper with feed slot, a continuously moving drawing-device such as a roller below the feed slot to receive issuing cellulosic film therefrom and draw it away from the slot, and means for feeding rigid sheet material, such as <PICT:0402807/III/1> <PICT:0402807/III/2> glass, which is narrower than the length of the feed slot, beneath the feed slot but above the drawing device so that the sheet material goes through the path of the film and is coated. The excess of cellulosic material continues to feed on to the drawing-roller where it extends beyond the side edges of the sheet material. The hopper preferably has a pair of adjustable lips, and is provided with a jacket for temperature-regulation of the cellulosic solution. As shown in Fig. 6, celluloid solution issues from a slot in a hopper 11 with adjustable lips 24, 25, and the film is normally received on a roller 40 which draws the material from the slot, and removed from the roller by a doctor blade 44. Sheet glass 41 is fed by rollers 42 at a constant rate between roller 40 and the hopper 11 so as to cut through the film 43 of celluloid solution and be coated. Excess of the celluloid film continues to feed on to the roller 40. The coated glass sheet passes to a conveyer 48 consisting of flexible steel cables which carries it through a bath of castor oil. The roller 40, feed rollers 42, 45, and conveyer 48 are driven at the same peripheral speed and they may be geared to a common drive shaft. The castor oil bath removes solvent such as acetone from the celluloid coating. The coated sheets pass to a second heated castor oil bath and then through a drying chamber. Rubber rollers remove the castor oil. As shown in Fig. 2, the upper part of the hopper 11 is provided with water jackets 12 in the side walls. The end walls also have jackets connected to the side jackets by pipes 17. Ice-cold water is circulated through the jackets. The hopper is supplied with celluloid solution by a gear pump through a pipe 23 extending along the length of the hopper and provided with openings at regular intervals in its upper side. The sloping faces of the hopper support adjustable plates 24, 25, slidably secured by set-screws 26 working in slots 27. The plates are adjusted by screws 28 working in nuts 30 on the sliding plates. Pallets 33 operate dial test indicators 34. Specifications 231,180, [Class 140, Waterproof &c. fabrics], 388,050; and 402,784, [Group IV.] are referred to.ALSO:<PICT:0402807/IV/1> <PICT:0402807/IV/2> Apparatus for coating sheet material comprises a hopper with feed slot, a continuously moving drawing-device such as a roller below the feed slot to receive issuing cellulosic film therefrom and draw it away from the slot, and means for feeding rigid sheet material, such as glass, which is narrower than the length of the feed slot, beneath the feed slot but above the drawing-device so that the sheet material goes through the path of the film and becomes coated.
