PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a long transfer nip width in transferring toner from an image carrier to a recording sheet by using AC transfer bias.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a secondary transfer power source 39 that applies AC transfer bias including a DC component and an AC component to a secondary transfer nip between an intermediate transfer belt 31 and a secondary transfer roller 36 arranged to be in contact with the surface of the intermediate transfer belt, and transfers a toner image carried on the surface of the intermediate transfer body to a recording sheet P that passes through the secondary transfer nip with the action of the AC transfer bias; and the secondary transfer roller has the JIS-A hardness of 60 or less. |
