Method for determining the remaining service life of a railway wheel set shaft using test bench tests

The method involves introducing preliminary damage in form of notch (2) into railway axle shaft surface. The railway axle is loaded temporally during two time phases with constant rotating bending load whose amplitude is between threshold value of crack propagation and maximum operation limit and with variable rotating bending load whose amplitude is varied from load change sub-sequences. A reduced portion of load change sub-sequence is realized by increasing length of crack, when running load change sub-sequences are not deviated from increase in non-run load change sub-sequences.
