A protective coat-forming coating composition comprises disilane compound or its partial hydrolyzate. Protective coat-forming coating composition comprises disilane compound of formula XmR1>(3-m)Si-Y-SiR1>(3-m)Xm or its partial hydrolyzate. R1>monovalent hydrocarbon group of 1-6C; Y : divalent organo group containing fluorine atom(s); X : hydrolyzable group;and m : 1-3. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a coated article comprising transparent substrate, and cured coat formed from the protective coat-forming coating composition serving as a chemical resistance film or antireflection film; and (b) a multilayer laminate comprising coated article, tackifier or adhesive layer lying on the transparent substrate side of the coated article, and release layer.
