A building comprises opposite end walls 3, 1, opposite side walls 1, 2, and load bearing concrete planks 17 supported above the ground at the side walls and extending across the building from one side wall to the other without any intermediate support. The unsupported span of the planks 17 is more than 11 meters, eleven metres, with an upper limit of 16 meters, sixteen metres, and the side walls 12 and end walls 3, 4 define the periphery of the building. Sidewalls of the building may include load bearing cross laminated timber panels. The concrete planks may be supported on columns spaced between 6.5 and 8 metres apart along the side walls. |
