A water-quality meter protection system that is provided with: an electric conductivity meter 1 that acts as a turbidity detection means that non-optically detects the turbidity of water in a pipeline, and that is provided upstream of a turbidimeter/colorimeter 2 that acts as water-quality meter that optically measures the water quality of the water; and a control means 7 that, on the basis of the detection results of the turbidity detection means, controls whether the water can flow into the water-quality meter from the water pipeline.
