This wireless endoscope is provided with: an imaging unit for imaging a subject; a power storage component for storing power; a detection unit that is attachably/detachably mounted on an endoscope main body containing the imaging unit and the power storage unit and detects the state of connection of a battery to the endoscope main body, the battery generating power necessary for endoscopic observation; and a control unit that, when receiving from the detection unit a detection result indicating that the battery is unconnected, sets an exchange operation mode in which power from the power storage component is used as power necessary for the endoscopic observation and the endoscopic observation is performed with lower power than in a normal operation mode in which the endoscopic observation is performed with power from the battery. |
