The present invention minimizes the maximum incident angle of a principal ray relative to an image surface in an imaging device including an imaging element. The imaging device includes an imaging lens, the imaging element, and a cover glass. The cover glass is joined to the imaging element in the imaging device with no air interposed therebetween. The maximum incident angle of the principal ray from the imaging lens relative to the cover glass in the imaging device is 35 degrees or greater. The refractive angle of the cover glass in the imaging device is at least 5 degrees less than the maximum incident angle.
