The present application provides a method and device for selecting and recommending a display object, configured to address the problem of strong subjectivity, low efficiency and susceptibility to errors in manually determining display objects participating in a service in the prior art. The selection method comprises: receiving, by a subserver, service participation request messages sent by respective first user terminals, wherein the service participation request messages carry identifiers of display objects; determining, according to an acquired correspondence relationship between identifiers of display objects and identifiers of first users from a master server, identifiers of the first users corresponding to the received identifiers of the display objects carried in respective service participation request messages; acquiring, from the master server, behavior history information of the first users represented by respective determined identifiers of the first users; determining, according to the acquired behavior history information of the first users, first users satisfying a predetermined service participation condition; and selecting, from the display objects requesting service participation of the first users meeting the predetermined service participation condition, a display object.
