In connection with a detection method employing immunochromatography for detecting a target analyte in a fecal sample caused to spread through an insoluble membrane, the present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for suppressing nonspecific reactions specific to feces, and a test strip for use in immunochromatography to be used therefor. Provided are: a method for detecting the target analyte in the fecal sample by causing an immunochromatographic reaction in the presence of an anti-IgA antibody without the influence of nonspecific reactions, and a test strip for use in immunochromatography to be used therefor.
