The present invention provides an electronic device that is provided with: a first driving electrode; a second driving electrode spaced apart from the first driving electrode; and a topological insulator that is in contact with both the first driving electrode and the second driving electrode and that has magnetism. The topological insulator has: a first area having a first retaining force; and a second area having a second retaining force different from the first retaining force. The present invention also provides a method for manufacturing a topological insulator, the method being provided with: a step for preparing a topological insulator having magnetism and a first retaining force; and a step for forming a second area having a second retaining force different from the first retaining force by irradiating a partial area of the topological insulator with ions.
