The invention relates to a method for analysing a data set of a time-of-flight mass spectrometry measurement for the detection of intensity maximums in the form of peaks, wherein a time-of-flight of accelerated masses with charge is measured, in particular a data set comprising an intensity of the ion frequency in relation to a mass-to-charge ratio, in particular of biological molecules, in particular obtained from a MALDI method (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation), wherein peak information is separated from signal noise, wherein a 2-parameter transformation from the data set of the time-of-flight spectrometry measurement into a time-frequency phase space is carried out by means of a transformation means, wherein the time-frequency phase space is the space spanned by the two parameters (k, I) of the 2-parameter transformation, wherein a wavelet transformation and/or a Gabor transformation is carried out in particular using the transformation means, wherein the signal of the data set is divided into individual signal sections f n to be compared using a data set dividing means, wherein successive signal sections f n and f n +1 have in particular a predetermined overlap in a window, in particular approx. 25%, 30%, 35% or 50% of a predetermined window width. |
