The present invention relates to a roof rail for arrangement on the roof frame of amotor vehicle having a lengthwise extending roof strip 14, a lengthwise extendingcover 12 and having a light system 40 integrated in the cover and having atleast one light source (42, see fig 4) and having a battery (44) which is either incorporatedtherein or arranged in or on the cover. The light system may further comprise a controller to switch at least one light source on and off automatically. Additionally, the light system may be provided with a sensor, which may be a magnetic field sensor, arranged on or in the vehicle door. The sensor may be coupled to the controller such that it is capable of switching at least one light source on or off in response to at least one signal generated by the sensor. Also included is a computer program for operating said controller. |
