A system (2, figure 1) suitable for determining the orientation of a toothbrush 4 has an orientation sensor 27 fitted to a toothbrush holder 10. Fitted with one or more processors 29 the orientation sensor 27 is configured to determine whether it is in a first orientation (41, figure 3b) or a second orientation (33, figure 3a). The first orientation corresponds to use of the toothbrush 4 on a surface of teeth on the left (42, figure 3b) of a user's mouth, while the second orientation corresponds to use of the toothbrush 4 on a surface of teeth on the right (40, figure 3a). The orientation sensor may comprise an accelerometer which uses the directional pull of gravity as an initialisation value. The determination of the first and second orientations may be used as inputs to control a game on an electronic computing device. |
