[Class 53.] _ A carrier or holder for supporting a battery or other article on a motor cycle &c. comprises in combination a rigid support on which the article is mounted, a clamping- piece attached at one end to the support and adapted to extend over the article, a retaining - device which is resilient in the lengthwise direction and is pivoted to the support to extend over the front &c. of the article, and means for detachably connecting the retaining-device to the clamping-device. The battery n or other article rests on a rigid support adapted to be attached to a motor cycle frame and comprising a back piece a and a base b, with welded-on or integral extensions c, d. A clamping-member g, h engaging the top of the battery is pivoted to the extension c, as by means of slot-engaging tongues f, and a resilient retaining-device k is pivoted to the extension d, as by means of inturned ends j engaging grooves. The upright arms of the retaining-device k are of waved form, so as to be resilient in the direction of their length, and are provided at the upper end with a finger actuating-lever m having a part l to engage an upturned tongue i on the clamping- member g, the parts being retained in the fastened position shown by the pull of the resilient arms k. |
