417,813. Hoisting - attachments for aircraft. BLACKBURN AEROPLANE & MOTOR CO., Ltd., Seaplane Base, and PETTY, G. E., Pantiles, both in Brough, near Hull. Aug. 17, 1933, No. 22970. [Class 4.] In means for facilitating hoisting aircraft in which a suspension member carrying at its upper end a loop, shackle, or the like is attached to the aircraft in the neighbourhood of its centre of gravity, the suspension member comprises a single rod or cable connected directly to the frame structure of the aircraft fuselage, e.g. to the main bulkhead thereof. As shown, a tube 10 passes through and is supported by cross-bracing in a wing 22. A streamlined tube 16 centralized in the tube 10 by a member 24 is connected at its lower end to the frame structure and is connected at its upper end by an eye 18 to a preferably, slightly flexible extension member 19 which is adapted, when upright, to engage the hook of the hoist. The member 19 may be clamped, within reach of the pilot or observer, along the wing profile or in a recess therein during flight.
