PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery having high discharge capacity and good discharge cycle performance, a method of manufacturing the positive electrode active material, and a lithium secondary battery using the positive electrode active material.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery contains a lithium transition metal complex oxide represented by a composition formula LiMeO(Me is a transition metal element containing Co, Ni and Mn, and 0<α≤0.2). The lithium transition metal complex oxide is characterized that the ratio (c/a) of the lattice constants a, c, when applying a space group R3-m in the charge state of 4.3 V(vs.Li/Li) after over charge chemical conversion, is equal to or more than 5.063 and equal to or less than 5.113. A method of manufacturing the positive electrode active material for the lithium secondary battery is characterized that coprecipitation hydroxide precursor and lithium compound are mixed and sintered at 700 to 800°C, or coprecipitated carbonate precursor and lithium compound are mixed and sintered at 800 to 900°C. |
