420,056. Roller bearings. TIMKEN ROLLER BEARING CO., Denber Avenue, Canton, Ohio, U.S.A. July 6, 1934, No. 19862. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1933. [Class 12 (i)] A one-piece conical cage, Fig. 3, for taper roller bearings comprises a small inner ring 11 and a large radially-disposed outer ring 10 joined to the inner ring by bridge pieces 12, the inner edge of the ring 10 being notched at 13 between the bridge pieces, the spaces between which are thus continued through the ring 10. The cage is specially applicable to a double row bearing having inwardly tapering inner raceways 2 and separate bearing cups 5 separated by a spacing ring 8. Each roller set 6 is provided with a cage. The outer cage rings 10 abut against the outer faces of the cups 5. By displacing each cup and its cage in turn along the inner bearing member 1, it is possible to pass the rollers over thrust ribs 4 and through the notches 13. The bridge pieces 12 are cut away along their inner edges. The ring 8 is preferably split and in this case is snapped into recessed parts 7 on the cups 5. The bearing may be adjusted by using spacing rings of different length.
|
