425,092. Spring - suspensions for vehicles. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES., Unterturkheim, Stuttgart, Germany. Sept. 3, 1934, Nos. 25331 and 25332. Convention dates, Sept. 1, 1933 and Oct. 23, 1933. [Class 108 (ii)] In an independent spring suspension for the wheels of motor &c. vehicles of the kind in . which the wheels are guided by means of swinging links, half-axles or equivalent members, the oppositely disposed wheels are sprung both with respect to the frame and to one another by means of unguided helical springs or like means of a substantially frictionless character. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the stub axle is supported from and guided by upper and lower links f, g working on horizontal pivot pins d, e, while a suspension spring l is disposed between the link g and a bracket o carried by the frame member a. The links g are extended to form bell-crank levers, between the oppositely disposed shorter arms p of which is arranged a helical spring r. An adjusting device m is provided to vary the position of the link g and the stressing of the compression spring l and tension spring r. Modifications are described in which the wheels are carried by swinging half-axles g<1> which at their inner ends are either cranked downwardly as shown at f<2>, or are fitted with upwardly projecting lugs, the transverse helical spring e<2> being located between such cranks or lugs.
|
