A connection system 100 is disclosed, which includes a connector 102 electrically connected and fixedly secured to the gradient coil assembly 50 of a magnetic resonance imaging device 10, a cable block 106 fixedly secured to a magnet 54 of the MRI device 10 substantially above the connector 102, and a cable 108 having a first end electrically connected to the cable block 106 and a second end received by the connector 102 and forming an electrical connection between the connector 102 and the cable block 106. A method is disclosed for setting up the system by securing the cable block to an end face of the magnet 54, and wherein the cable has a plug for connection to the connector 102. A system is also disclosed wherein the connectors receptacle (104, figure 3) is oriented radially with respect to the patient-receiving bore 59 of the MRI device, and wherein a coaxial cable extends downwardly from the cable block 106, the cable having a plug that is received in the receptacle of the connector. |
