An imaging apparatus includes an imaging element including a pixel portion having a plurality of photoelectric conversion units with respect to one micro lens and color filters which are regularly arranged for each micro lens. The imaging apparatus generates a first signal and a second signal for phase difference-type focus detection based on an output of the imaging element. Each of the first signal and the second signal consists of a plurality of unit signals, and the unit signal of each of the first signal and the second signal is a signal obtained by mixing image signals from the same combination of the color filters. |

1. An imaging apparatus comprising:
an imaging element including a plurality of pixel portions each having a plurality of photoelectric conversion portions, including an A portion and a B portion, with respect to one micro lens and color filters which are arranged for respective micro lenses, wherein the A portion produces an A pixel signal and the B portion produces a B pixel signal, the imaging element configured to output A pixel signals, and A+B pixel signals each of which is a mixture of the A pixel and the B pixel signal; and a generating unit configured to generate B pixel signals based on the A+B pixel signals and the A image signals, and generate a plurality of first pixel signals and a plurality of second pixel signals for phase difference-type focus detection, wherein each of the first pixel signals adjacent to each other respectively is generated from at least the same pixel signal obtained from the same A portion and each of the second pixel signals adjacent to each other respectively is generated from at least the same B pixel signal obtained from the same B portion. |
