Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a user interface having a header or banner that displays information about a current context to help a user to gather information. In one example, the user interface displays information of a datacenter's health and status, including alerts that have been triggered. The user interface displays a context banner that tracks information gathered and actions taken within the context of the alert, and provides aggregate information or detailed information about the alert.

1. A method for displaying a user interface of an application for managing virtual machines of a computing system, the method comprising:
displaying a graphical user interface (GUI) having a first view for an alert, wherein the alert is based on a status of a virtual machine; displaying a plurality of content objects, wherein each content object is selected based on a subject matter of the alert; displaying, within the first view, a count that represents the number of content objects selected based on the subject matter of the alert; receiving an indication, from a user, to navigate to a second view of the GUI for a selected one of the plurality of content objects; displaying the second view, the second view comprising content of the selected content object; and displaying a button within the second view that, when selected, causes a bookmark to be applied to the content object selected for the second view.
