1. A multiple plate clutch having a main spring that is provided between a clutch center fixed in an axial direction and a pressure plate displaceable in the axial direction and presses a plurality of clutch plates in a clutch engagement direction, and a lifter plate for lifting the pressure plate in a clutch release direction, characterized in that a sub pressure plate which is separate from and displaceable relatively to the pressure plate is provided, a sub spring for pressing the pressure plate in a clutch engagement direction is provided, when the lifter plate is lifted by a predetermined amount, the lifter plate separates the sub pressure plate from the pressure plate, thereby cutting off a sub spring load transmission passage to the pressure plate, the sub spring and the sub pressure plate are disposed at the opposite side to the lifter plate through the pressure plate, the pressure plate is provided with a hole portion, the lifter plate is provided with a release boss to be inserted in the hole portion, and when the lifter plate is lifted by the predetermined amount or more, the release boss comes into contact with the sub pressure plate, whereby the sub pressure plate is separated from the pressure plate. |
