The system provides for the control of a railway train (TC) for the transport of goods, comprising a plurality of wagons (W), a master locomotive (ML) at the head of the train (TC) and one or more slave locomotives (SL) distributed along the train (TC). The train (TC) is equipped with a pneumatic brake pipe BP which extends along the whole train (TC). The master locomotive (ML) is equipped with a master control system (MS) for controlling the train (TC), and the at least one slave locomotive (SL) is equipped with a slave control system (SS) subordinated to the master control system (MS). The master and slave systems (MS, SS) can communicate with each other via a radio channel. The or each slave system (SS) is designed to control traction apparatuses (614), apparatuses (606-608) for controlling the pressure in the brake pipe (BP) and apparatuses for applying the emergency brake of the corresponding slave locomotive (SL), and for retransmitting signals indicating the status of these apparatuses of the slave locomotive (SL) to the master system (MS). The master system (MS) can interpret traction commands and braking commands imparted by the driver of the master locomotive (ML) and can transmit corresponding commands to the slave systems (SS) in the form of traction set point values and set point values of pressure in the brake pipe (BP) to be executed locally. |
