A micro lens array substrate comprising: a substrate having optical transparency, in whose one surface a concave portion arranged in a first direction, in a second direction intersecting the first direction, and in a third direction intersecting the first direction and the second direction is formed; and a lens layer having optical transparency and having a different refractive index from that of the substrate, which is formed on the one surface of the substrate in such a manner as to fill in the concave portion and to cover a region where the concave portion is formed; wherein on the lens layer, a discontinuous part is formed between the adjacent concave portions in the third direction among the first direction, the second direction, and the third direction when viewed from above, and wherein the lens layer is continuous between the adjacent concave portions in at least one of the first direction and the second direction.
