Also disclosed are methods of treatment of trypanosomatid infections comprising administering phthalocyanine compounds or phthalocyanine-treated trypanosomatid microorganisms as vaccines, as well as and polypeptide delivery vectors comprising phthalocyanine-treated trypanosomatid microorganisms.
