[Class 20 (iii)] Pivoted-sliding sashes are supported by headed studs engaging inwardly inclined supports 31, 46, Figs. 13 and 16, in the cord or tape attachments, so that the sashes slide laterally when the guide beads are released and sliding movement is thereby prevented by projections 36 on the frame. The inside beads for the lower sash have hinged sections 38 secured by bolts and the parting beads 50, Fig. 3, are omitted in the pivoting position of the top sash which is narrower. Angled weather strips 61 are secured by slots and screws in recesses in the lower sash and the free limb thereof engages a lined groove 67 in the frame. The weather strips for the top sash are bent metal strips 43 secured to the frame and engaging grooves in the edges of the sash. The bottom rail of the bottom sash has an inset U-shaped member 60, Fig. 6, the outer limb of which has a flush engagement with a recessed upstanding rib 58 on the sill. The sashes are preferably balanced by tapes and spring-controlled drums. |
