The invention relates to a sintered body (28) for use as a liquid reservoir (24) in an electronic cigarette (21) and/or in medication-administering devices and/or in thermally heated evaporators for fragrant substances. The sintered body (28) made of open-pore sintered glass has a porosity > 50 vol%, and the average pore size lies in the range of 1 to 450 μm. The glass of the sintered body has a transition temperature Tg of at least 450°C. The invention further relates to an evaporating unit (22) for hot applications, comprising the sintered body (28) as a liquid reservoir and a heating element, and to the use of the sintered body (28) in an electronic cigarette (21) and/or in medication-administering devices and/or in thermally heated evaporators for fragrant substances.
